The past few years, I've started ,a group to together,a for people building cool thingsand an annual .Every day, I to start my day.
Also, in no particular order, I:
- Ran marathons in Los Angeles, New York, Ventura and Pittsburgh.
- Set the single-season record for personal fouls on the Kenyon College men's basketball team, while passing enough courses for a degree in philosophy.
- Threw a million watermelons off flatbed trucks in Pittsburgh's Strip District as a teenager.
- Met my now wife, Amy, through a blind intro. She didn't pick up the first time I called, so I left a three-minute voicemail. Thankfully, she returned my call. A few years later we invited our friends and family to a beach photo. To their surprise, we got married. Jack, aged 5, was our ring bearer. Juniper arrived a couple of years later.
- Commissioned a life-sized plywood Teen Wolf, which is one of my most significant possessions.
- Went looking for the Cangilla line in Lascari, Sicily, with my son Jack, the fourth John Cangilla.
- Went back to college at 45. A year and a half of calculus so far: invigorating and hard.
- Spent twenty years in media and tech before all this: Yahoo, then a studio I co-founded and sold, then Meta.
To paraphrase Groucho Marx: if you don't like these, well... I have more.
